Obituary for Joyce E. Stobbe

Joyce E. Stobbe, 88, of Grand Island, NE passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at her daughter, Linda's home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 2, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Martin Egging will officiate. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Rosary following at 6 PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Stobbe was born on January 13, 1931 at Ashton, NE to John and Mary (Jasnock) Peters. She grew up in Ashton and attended Ashton Parochial and Ashton High School.

She was united in marriage to Carl Stobbe on September 29, 1947 at Ashton, NE. After which the couple lived in Grand Island, NE.

Mrs. Stobbe began employment at Redman Mobile Homes in 1962 as cabinet shop lead and later transportation manager. After the plant closed she began employment at St. Francis Medical Center in 1985 until she retired in 2004.

Mrs. Stobbe loved cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed Husker football, playing cards, crocheting, gardening and flowers.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Alter Society.

Survivors of the immediate family include, two daughters, Linda and Ray Abel of Grand Island, NE, and Connie Miller of Dallas, TX; son, Larry Stobbe and life partner Greg Stutzman, of Grand Island, NE; one grandson, Todd and Tammy Flannigan, of Colorado Springs, CO; six granddaughters, Jodie and Kenny Williams of Vancleave, MS, Michelle and Brent Linder, Lindsay Miller and Nick Blath, Sunni and Mike Muirhead, Ashlee and Eric Cox, all of Grand Island, and Carly Miller, of Dallas, TX; 15 great grandchildren, Amber, Alex, and David Flannigan, Haley and Zachary Roy, Sydney and Cole Lindner, Lauryn Miller and Landon Blath, Ariel, Travis, Jacob, and Jaxon Muirhead, Gwenyth and Maverick Cox; and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, in 2003; parents; one granddaughter, Jackie Lee; and six sisters, Tina, Roma, Virgie, Isabelle, Rita, and Lilian.

A special thank you to her two grandsons; Navy Petty Officer 2nd class Travis Muirhead and US Marines Lance CPL Jacob Muirhead. Also to a very special nephew, Richard Stobbe who did so many kind things for her and bringing her the Holy Eucharist every Sunday. Very special person and dear friend, Jacquelyn Stacey. And a special thank you to the amazing nurses at Asera Care Hospice including Kim, Trenna, Sue and the rest of the nursing staff.
