Sevilla M. Peters, 94, of Grand Island, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the Skilled Care Unit of the St. Francis Medical Center. As per her request, her body will be cremated, and there will be no services. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Sevilla was born on February 14, 1913 at Hastings, Nebraska to Will and Lyddie (May) Eaglin. Survivors of the immediate family include one daughter, Annie Bryant of Grand Island; and one son and daughter-in-law, William & Leone Peters, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Additional survivors include five granddaughters and their spouses, Barb & Bruce Schorle of Grand Island, Karen & Boyce Burnett of Brush, Colorado, Lynne & Paddy Downey of Hobbs, New Mexico, Carolyn & Tahlal Morad of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jeanette & Bill Slichenmyer of East Lyme, Ct.; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Sevilla received her education in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School. After her education she lived in Nebraska City and then moved back to Hastings. She married Albert C. Peters on June 18, 1938 in Lincoln. Sevilla was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Franklin Nebraska Senior Citizens Home. After living in Arvada, Colorado, she moved to Grand Island, where she was employed at the Lutheran Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She then provided health care for seniors in their homes. Sevilla retired when she was 84. She was an accomplished artist, enjoyed bird watching, and studying astronomy. She loved elephants and cats. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son-in-law, Harold Bryant; one sister, Castella Golden; and by three brothers, Gayle, Claud, and Melvin Eaglin.
