Obituary

Alton L. Kraft, 88, of Grand Island died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Wedgewood Care Center.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 17, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Reverend Bill Pavuk will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorials are suggested to the Stuhr Museum.
Mr. Kraft was born on January 16, 1923 in Mansbridge, South Dakota, the ninth child of Reverend Albert and Emilie (Hirsch) Kraft.  Alton's mother passed away when he was six weeks old and he was taken into the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Zeitner near Delmont, South Dakota.
In January 1942 Alton moved to Grand Island. He was united in marriage to Lillian Hansen on February 28, 1943. The couple made their home in Grand Island where they owned and operated Kraft Floor Sanding and Janitor Supply for more than 20 years. Lillian preceded him in death on September 29, 1965.
Alton married Glendola Emal on September 30, 1966. He retired from Norwest Bank of Grand Island on October 1, 1984. Glendola preceded him in death on August 9, 1996.
Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald D. (Karen) Kraft of Hastings, David (Marie) Kraft of Doniphan, and Jim (Marcie) Emal of Wilbur; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Kent) Mueller of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Ann Sieler, Goldie Eisenbraun, Gertrude Ring, and Margaret Bousfield, all of South Dakota.
Additional survivors include five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, four sisters, Frieda Goldhammer, Leonida Schwarz, Paula Fauske and Esther Wilkerson, and four brothers, Emil, Arthur, Walter and Albert Kraft.
