Barbara D. Geist, 87, of Grand Island, NE passed away Friday April 26, 2019 at home with family by her side.

A Graveside Service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 30, at Grand Island City Cemetery with Pastor Lonnie Logan officiating. The visitation will take place a day prior on Monday from 5-7 PM at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel.

Barb was born May 21, 1931 to Ivan and Eleanor (Boaz) Eggers, in Charleston, IL. Later on Barbara and her 3 siblings were adopted by Fred Richeal whom Eleanor married after the passing of their father Ivan. She attended school in Charleston and Elm Creek and graduated from Elm Creek High School.

She was united in marriage to Richard L. Geist in Elk Point, SD. The couple made their home in Grand Island, NE where they raised their 3 sons and eventually opened their own masonry business in 1972 where barb worked as the office manager.

Barb enjoyed bird watching, drinking ice tea and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her pets.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons and  daughter-in-laws, Randy and Marsha Geist, Russ and Lisa Geist and Rick and Tami Geist, all of Grand Island; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sister; and her two brothers.
