Bonnie O. Walker, 97, of Grand Island died Friday, September 2, 2011 at Riverside Lodge.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Bob Rhodes will officiate. There will be no visitation. A private family burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Riverside Memorial Fund or Trinity United Methodist Church.
Bonnie was born on November 5, 1913 in Grinnell, Iowa to Hiram and Winnifred (Humphrey) McClure. Following the death of her mother she moved with her father to Arnold, Nebraska . She graduated from Arnold High School in 1931.
She was united in marriage to Donald O. Walker on May 2, 1932 at Broken Bow, Nebraska. The couple moved to Hamburg, IA and then to Cedar Rapids, NE in 1941. They moved to Grand Island in 1944 where they remained.
Bonnie took great pride in her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter, Maryellen (Melvin) Obermeier of Giltner, two sons, Cecil (Jan) Walker of Newnan, GA, and Joseph (Lee) Walker of Goodyear, AZ, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Foster of Denton, TX, 12 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Marie Weed and Joan Welch, and a brother, Robert McClure, all of California.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Donald Jr., a foster son, Dick Foster, a grandson, Mark Walker, and a brother Glen McClure.
