Brian E. Lammers, 58, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.

Brian was born November 6, 1955 in Loup City to Weert and Marjorie (Keehn) Lammers. He grew up in Grand Island and attended special school for several years. At age 13, he moved to the Beatrice State Home, and returned to Grand Island at age 18 to the Mid-Nebraska Program. He lived in group homes and independently for several years. He then lived with family for 20 years.

He worked with Good Will and had many different jobs including sorting clothes and packing and filling orders for varies company contracts. He was very active in Special Olympics earning many medals in track, bowling, and basketball. Brian's other interests included dancing and playing the slot machines. He also enjoyed watching all types of movies and had many friends.

Brian is survived by his father and stepmother: Weert (Sharon) Lammers of Grand Island; mother: Marjorie Lammers of Grand Island; sister Rhonda (Robert) Larkowski of Thorton, CO; brothers: Warren (Deb) Lammers of Guide Rock, NE, Kevin Lammers of Grand Island; step-brother: Rodney (Lovette) Bruer of New Town, ND; step-sisters: Marilyn Bruer of Cody, WY, Carol (Rory) Allen of Pender, NE; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Lammers, and grandparents.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Friday, February 14, 2014 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with Steve Shanno officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday prior to the service. Memorials may be given to Good Will or Special Olympics.
