Carline Denman, age 96, of Grand Island passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Riverside Lodge in Grand Island.
Carline was born in Grand Island on August 10,1928 and spent her entire life in Hall County. Her parents were Claus and Minnie (Stolley) Clausen. She was a great granddaughter of Wilhelm Stolley, One of the first settlers of Hall County.
She received her grade school education at District #4 and District #77, both one-room schools, southwest of Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1947.
She married Elvin R. Denman of Doniphan, at the Trinity United Methodist Church on November 23rd, 1947 in Grand Island.
She is survived by one daughter Connie L. Dunning of Grand Island, two grand-daughters Nicole (Jon) Hurst of Fort Worth, TX and Angela Mancinas of Hastings, NE, two great-grand-daughters Olivia Mancias and Isabel Mancinas both of Hastings, NE. One step-great-grand-daughter Brittney (Kris) Martin and 4 step great-great-grand-children Karsyn, Berkley, Karli and Barrett Martin of Grand Island. Other survivors include a sister-in-law Lola (Bernard) Cosgriff, cousins and many nieces and nephews.
Carline and Elvin farmed for many years at Doniphan and around the Grand Island area. She was a licensed Real Estate salesperson. They owned and operated Fireside Realty with their daughter Connie for several years. After aquiring a Commerical Driveway on the south end of their farm, they built and operated Fireside Campgrounds and RV park for ten years. They then retired to their farmstead in 1986.
In earlier years she was active in extension work and was a member of the Southern Belles Club, serving as President for several years. She also helped as leader of a 4-H club and served on District #4 school board. She was a member of the Grand Island Altrusa International for several years. She was a member of the Doniphan Cemetery Board and served as President for one year. She and Elvin enjoyed camping and traveling throughout the United States in their RV. They were members of the Hoppin' Sams Camping Charter of Hastings where she served as President for several years. They were also members of the Platt Valley Sams of Grand Island where she served as President. She and Elvin belonged to two Winnebago Camping Clubs.
She enjoyed her retirement and being with her family and friends. After four years by herself on the farm with the loss of her husband, she moved into Grand Island and that changed her life. She kept her memberships in the clubs they belonged to, she had places to go and friends to meet. She enjoyed the Liederkranz, Platt Duetsche, Saddle Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the Does. The Grand Island Concert Association and eating out with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin in 2009, after 62 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were her parents Claus and Minnie (Stolley) Clausen. Her parents-in-law Pearl (Kingston) and Clifford Denman. Sister-in-law Mary Ann Bowden and brother-in-law Joe Bowden, brother-in-law Bob Denman and sister-in-law Maxine Denman and brother-in-law Bernard Cosgriff.
Services will be held Monday, 11:00am at Abundant Life Church in Grand Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the Grand Island City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be directed to www.livson.com .
