Obituary

Carole S. (Boroff) Vejvoda-Denman , 73, of Grand Island passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Tiffany Square Care Center with her family at her side. Carole lost her battle with lung and brain cancer after seventeen long months. Carole's positive outlook never wavered and her inspiration to everyone who knew her is what led her death to be filled with dignity.She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother.
Carole was born on February 2, 1941 in Doniphan to Merton and Lela Boroff. Carole was raised on a farm in Wood River and moved to Grand Island shortly after High School where she lived until her death. She worked for Hansen Wholesale for many years as a sales associate. Carole spent the last five years of her life as a para-educator at Dodge elementary school. "Ms. Carole" as she was fondly referred to, touched the lives of many children and co-workers as evidenced by the numerous "get-well" cards and gifts she received and cherished.
Carole loved to read and spent countless hours engrossed in fiction novels, often two to three at one time. She was an avid shopper and everyone who knew her would attest that a good bargain would never escape her eye. Carole enjoyed spending time with the love of her life for 35 years, Jim Denman and the two were often found doting over their two dogs; Bo and Bella.
Survivors include her husband Jim Denman; son Greg Befort and wife Wendy of Reno, NV; daughter Tammy Bumann and husband Todd of Grand Island; and daughter Mick Van Luchene also of Grand Island.Carole has seven grandchildren, Ashley Hayden, Danny Selby, Kara Selby, and Paige Befort (Reno, NV) and Aaron Van Luchene, Jordyn Van Luchene, and Kennedy Bumann (Grand Island). In addition, Carole is also survived by seven great grandchildren, brother Jim Boroff and sisters Kay Rieken, Kaffie Alber, and Karen Scott along with many nieces and nephews. The selfless devotion, strength and genuine love Carole shared with her family will be greatly missed.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents Merton and Lela Boroff; brother Jack Boroff; and sister Leva Aufdenkamp.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 W. 12th Street with Pastor Jack Gillam. According to Carole's wishes, cremation has taken place. A time of visiting with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sonderman Funeral Home, 601 N. Webb Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
