Catherine Ann Caffrey, 66, of Omaha, died Wednesday, February 12,, 2014 at Nebraska Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Father Jonathan Sorensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a 7 pm Wake Service.

Catherine was born on October 12, 1947 at Grand Island to Martin J. and Catherine R. (Powers) Caffrey. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1969. She received her Bachelor Degree from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD and her Masters in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Catherine worked as a freelance scientific editor.
She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Catherine is survived by two sisters, Rose Mary Victor and her husband Joe of Golden, CO, and Eileen Atherton of Omaha; and nieces
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Steve, Martin Joseph Jr., Jim, Robert and David Caffrey; and two sisters, Blanche Murphy and Patricia Lambertus.
