Clara Emma Stoldt , age 97, of Grand Island, NE died July 13, 2011 at Wedgewood
Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Livingston-Sondermann Chapel. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Clara was born March 12, 1914 to Paul and Minnie Ruff in Hall County, NE, nine miles north of Grand Island.
At the age of 14, Clara was confirmed in the Cairo, NE Lutheran Church where her uncle was the pastor.
On November 1, 1939, Clara married August Stoldt, Jr. in Central City, NE.  They made their home on a farm north of Grand Island.  On April 1, 1941, their son, Bob, was born. In October 1943, August died of heart failure. Clara and Bob moved to Grand Island and lived at the home of Clara's parents.
In 1954, Clara went to work for the Liberty Cleaners in Grand Island.  She worked there for 33 years, until her retirement.
In 1995, Clara moved to Centennial Towers, and in 2010 to Wedgewood Care Center.
Clara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Gloria Stoldt of Englewood, CO; two grandchildren, Conrad (Jennifer) Stoldt and Courtney (Richard) Lawless of Denver, CO; three great grandchildren, Claire Stoldt, Della Stoldt, and Jake Lawless; and other family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, August; her parents, Paul and Minnie Ruff; one sister, Rosie Beckmann; and three brothers, Eddie Ruff, Ernie Ruff and Armin Ruff.
