Obituary

Danny Joseph "Butch" McGinley was born on June 7th, 1948 in Pittsfield, Illinois to Joseph McGinley and Helen (Gilmore) McGinley Rhodes. He departed this life on June 16, 2026 at CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, NE surrounded by his loving family at the age of 78 years and 9 days.

Butch married Brenda Fielding on March 21, 1970. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years together before his sudden passing. Although they never had kids of their own, Butch loved kids and spent many years spoiling his nieces and nephews with surprise trips to the county fair, rides in his semi, or even just teaching them to love fishing as much as he did. One of the last things Butch did before he passed away was going fishing one last time on his birthday with his best friend and brother, Tim. Even though he is gone, his spirit lives on in all the memories he left behind with his family and friends.

Butch spent 6 years in the Army before being honorably discharged. Afterwards he would spend his life dedicated to careers in law enforcement, truck driving for Larkins and Sons Trucking, and as the sprinkler department supervisor at Reinke's Manufacturing.

Butch is preceded in death by his father, Joseph McGinley, mother, Helen (Gilmore) McGinley Rhodes, step father, Billie Rhodes, sisters, Mary Anne McMullen and Kathy Lentz, brother, Michael "Sarge" McGinley, brother-in-law, Carl McMullen, and nephew Michael "Tony" McMullen. He is also preceded in death by his siblings in law, Linda Barton, Joey Fielding, and Stevie Fielding.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Brenda (Fielding) McGinley of Chester, NE, brother, Tim McGinley of Chester, NE, step-sister Wanda Rhodes of Fairbury, NE, sisters-in-law, Jean McGinley of Topeka KS and Masel McGinley of Temple TX, nieces, Melissa McKenna, Michelle Zerbe (Charlie), and Crystal McMullen-Moore, all of Eskridge, KS, Kim Manning (Steve) of Temple, TX, Jessica McGinley of Tecumseh, NE, and Brandy Steelman (Ken) of Beatrice. Nephews Ryan McGinley (Holly) of Harveyville, KS and Chris McGinley (Kelli) of Topeka KS. Also grieving the loss of Butch are his nieces and nephews in law, Ronda Fuller, Jodi Fielding, JB Fielding, and David Barton, along with a whole host of other friends and family.

The family chose cremation so no viewing will take place. Graveside services will be Saturday, August 1st at 11am at the Chester City Cemetery with Pastor Mark Baldwin officiating. A luncheon will follow at the North Park Picnic Area in Chester. Memorials can be sent to:
