Darrel A. Beins, 82 of Wood River, died at Wedgewood Care Center Tuesday, June 2, 2015.
Darrel was born on April 30, 1933 near Samford, NE to Charles and Winnie Faye (McCarty) Beins. He grew up in Beaver City, NE where he graduated from Beaver City School.
After high school he moved to Oregon and drove a logging truck for his Brother-in-law. There he met and was united in marriage to his first wife, Delores Culver, to which 4 children were born; Dennis, Darilyn, Donna and James. The couple moved back to Nebraska and Darrel worked for Ideal Truck lines where he retired. He later married Leigh Tacha in Norton, KS and they were married for 35 years, until she passed. He later married Sharon Anderson.
Darrel loved to hunt and fish, antiquing, and gardening. In the past 6 years he has resided in Wood River, NE and there he enjoyed his time spent with friends at Overland Trails Oasis where he would arrange fish fry's, lunches and the road trips to neighboring towns.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Dennis Beins of Omaha, Darilyn (Tom) Henry of Tacoma, WA, Donna (Jeff) Wagner of Grand Island, James Beins of Yelm, WA, Mike (Betty) Oliver of Beaver City, and step-sons Mike and Bob Tacha; sisters, Margaret Caldwell of Pendleton, OR and Joyce Beyers of Louisiana; brothers, Roy (Sandy) Beins of Chanut, KS and Delbert Beins of Beaver City; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents; 3 wives, Delores, Leigh, and Sharon; brothers, Chuck and Jim; and a sister, Roanna.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island was in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015 at Stolley Park Church of Christ in Grand Island. Reverend Mike Reeves will officiate. Memorials are suggested to Stolley Park Church of Christ.
