David L. Goosic, 58, of Grand Island died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center after a long fought courageous battle with cancer, with his family at his side.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday at Resurrection Catholic Church. Father Mike McDermott will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation services were provided by Westlawn Memorial Park. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
David Lee Goosic was born on March 19, 1952 in Grand Island to Verlon and Marjorie (Johnson) Goosic. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Northwest High School in 1970.
He was united in marriage to Kathy Grabowski on June 8, 1974 in Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island where they raised their two sons, Justin and Jason. David worked for the Grand Island Water Department for 39 years as the Water Superintendent. He retired in 2009 due to poor health.
He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Platt Duetsche. David was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at Sherman Reservoir with family and friends.
He will be remembered for having a unique sense of humor that enabled him to relate to people from all walks of life.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife Kathy of Grand Island, two sons and daughters in law, Justin (Jackie) Goosic of Grand Island and Jason (Cara) Goosic of Grand Island, and two beautiful grandchildren, Ella Jade Goosic and William David Goosic.
He is also survived by a brother, Steven Goosic of Grand Island, a sister, Kimberlee Erickson of Grand Island, and numerous relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father in law and mother in law, Leonard and Irene Grabowski.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
