Other survivors are 15 beloved grandchildren, and 22 precious great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grand children, and many cherished nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Della was raised on a farm in Loup City, NE and received her education there. She attended UNL to achieve a teaching certificate and moved back to Sherman County to teach in a one room country school. She met her future husband, Edward, on the dance floor in Loup City, NE and they were united in marriage on June 7, 1948. Della was a devoted wife and mother. She retired from the Grand Island Public School System after 23 wonderful years of enjoying the children she met. Soon after retirement she rejoined the work force with the Grand Island Health Department where she enjoyed many days of helping others.
She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was involved with the Sunday school program for many years and was a faithful church circle member. She was an expert seamstress, making many of her children's and grand children's clothes. Della loved sitting in her backyard watching her grand children play, tending her flowers, and enjoying the visiting birds, bunnies and squirrels. She loved walking and meeting people along the way. She cherished her family and had close friendships with everyone she met. She loved to play cards, watch NE Husker football, golf, and baseball. Della enjoyed reading and shared the passion of books with her children and grandchildren, but most of all she cherished spending time with her family and friends.
We will always remember her smiling face and reassuring love for all those "Dear Hearts" she met as she enjoyed her life to the fullest. She touched the lives of many, many, people and continually demonstrated an everlasting sign of her love.
