Denton Bedell, 82, of Phillips, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island with Rev. Jack Sample officiating.

Denton was born to William and Gertrude (Zimmerman) Bedell on June 6, 1930 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. In the 40's the family moved to Craig, Colorado. He graduated in 1949 from Craig High School. Denton joined the United States Army in 1951, and was honorably discharged in 1954. In 1956, he began working for Chevron for 23 years.

On September 30, 1967, he married JoAnn Englehaupt in Grand Island.  The couple lived in Rangley, Colorado. In 1977 they moved to Phillips, Nebraska where he worked for the Village of Phillips. Denton loved the mountains and fishing and hunting. He was a wonderful husband and will be sadly missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn of 44 years; stepson Robert Lakey of Grand Island; stepdaughter, Rhonda (Craig) Westcott of Grand Island; 2 step grandchildren, Jennifer and Tyler; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Judge Thein of Grand Island, and Etta Mae (Dave) Nation of Bloomfield, Indiana .

Denton was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Jerry Englehaupt Sr; and sister-in-law, Lou Englehaupt.
