Donald Jerry Kingsley passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, in Cairo, Nebraska.

He will be laid to rest at Cameron Cemetery in Wood River, beside his wife Joyce at 11:00am on October 12, 2024 with Pastor Kalaba Kapunu officiating.

Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Don was born in Colorado in 1959, and his parents relocated the family to Nebraska in 1963. He attended Centura School System near Cairo from 1965 to 1977, enjoying his time on the football, basketball, and cross-country teams. He attended & graduated from St. Paul High School in 1978. During his school years, Don excelled as a wrestling athlete at both Centura and St. Paul, earning medals in the State Tournament in Lincoln during his senior year in his weight class, as well as receiving multiple college wrestling scholarship offers.

In 1978, he enrolled at the University of Nebraska Omaha to study engineering before enlisting in the US Navy Nuclear Submarine School in 1982.

Throughout his life, Don resided in various states including California, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, and Nebraska. He held the position of Plumbing Superintendent on several major projects in Nebraska, such as Sam's Club, the Grand Island Jail, and the State Fair Grounds in Grand Island. He was also a certified Medical Gas installer for numerous hospital projects across the state.

Don found joy in his farm, and he loved fishing, building, and hands-on work.

He is survived by his two brothers, their two sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, one aunt, and cousins.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Joyce.
