Obituary

Dorothy I. Hollowell, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday at Stolley Park Church of Christ. Minister Mike Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in Wiegert Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Stolley Park Church of Christ.
Dorothy was born on December 17, 1923 in Worms, Nebraska to Arthur and Bertha (Noffke) Niemoth. She grew up on a farm near Worms and received her education at Zion Lutheran School. She lived on the farm until moving to Grand Island in 1943.
She was united in marriage to John C. Hollowell on November 26, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The couple moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1944 where she worked for Meadow Gold. They returned to Grand Island in 1945 where she helped her husband at the family business The Insurance Agency Center.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church until 1974 when she was baptized in the Church of Christ. She was a current member of Stolley Park Church of Christ.
Dorothy was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren,  great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking for others and making silk flowers.
Survivors of the immediate family include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonita Vejvoda of Grand Island, Sharon and Jerry Bady of Grand Island and Mardell and Steve Larson of Funk, NE; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Hollowell of Grand Island.
She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; 2 step great-great-grandchildren; and sister Viola Hefner of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son, James Hollowell; a son-in-law, Bill Vejvoda; a brother Elton Niemoth; and a brother-in-law Bud Hefner.
