Duane Holley, 84, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Lebensraum Retirement Home.
Francis Duane Holley was born November 14, 1931, in Merna, NE to Walter and Elsie (Zeller) Holley. He attended Ansley High School and graduated in 1951. He entered the United States Navy on May 31, 1951 and was honorably discharged on April 22, 1955.
Duane was united in marriage to Kaylene Dymek on June 21, 1956 in Ravenna. The couple lived in Seward while he attended Milford Vocational School for diesel mechanics. They lived in several different places, but settled in Grand Island in 1966 where Duane worked at New Holland and Nebraska Tractor and Equipment. He retired in 1985.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the VFW. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and cooking, restoring furniture, fishing, and spending time at the cabin.
Duane is survived by wife: Kaylene; sons: Kent Holley of Grand Island and Scot (Melissa) Holley of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Margot and Evan Holley of Denver, CO; brother: Darrell (Laurie) Holley of Henderson, NE; and brother-in-law: Dennis (Joyce) Dymek of Oklahoma City, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Linda in 2014; grandson: Jake Holley; brothers: Leo Holley, Walter Holley, Jr, Leciel Holley; and sister: Lola Thieman.
Memorial service will be 10:30 Monday, January 4, 2016 at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel. Father Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. According to his wishes, Duane was cremated. There will be no visitation or viewing. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
