Obituary

Earl H. Tibbs, 78, of Grand Island passed away Tuesday June 25, 2019 at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island after a lengthy illness of COPD, and his body was donated to the Anatomical Board for Science.

A memorial service will be held at 2PM Monday, July 1st at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alan Petersen officiating.

Earl was born November 19, 1940 in Grand Island to Howard & Eulalia (Bigley) Tibbs.

He served in the Army from 1959-1961, after attending missile school he served in Germany and attained the rank of E-4 specialist.

Earl was united in marriage to Marlene Pribnow on March 3, 1962 at St. Mary's Cathedral of Grand Island and together they raised 4 children.

After the military he was self-employed. He began work in 1980 on television repair, proceeding to satellite dishes and continuing on to build complete cable systems. He also did the electrical wiring of the new grade school of Loup County in Taylor, Nebraska. Earl then took a position in Las Vegas as the Star West Cable System property manager, he and Marlene lived there for several years before returning to Grand Island.

Earl was a member of an AA group since 1980. He loved playing softball with his family, metal detecting, researching genealogy, and loved technology such as his computers and security cameras, he especially enjoyed coffee rides to McDonalds with his wife Marlene almost every day.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Cori (Greg) Lee of Camden Point, MO, Sandy (Glen) Peters of Palmer, NE, Jeff (Kelly) Tibbs of Las Vegas, NV, Janet Tibbs of Grand Island, NE; Grand children, Chris (Stephanie), Matt (Beth) and  Aaron (Megan) Lee, Ashley Tavenner (Brett Bramer); five great grand children; brother, Tim (Bea) Tibbs; sisters, Monica (Daryl) Stearley, Cathy (Leroy) Arends, Nettie (Bob) Ellington, Judy (Don) Shuda, Cindy (Mike) Knopik, Dottie (Jerome) Bilsland; and many nieces and nephews.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents; two sister, Ursula Enck, and Pamela Tibbs.
