Elsie Contryman, 98 of Grand Island, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society. Services will be 11:00 AM Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Chapel with Pastor Kelly Karges officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at a later date.

Elsie was born November 15, 1918 at Verdigre, NE to George and Marie (Roubal) Bauman. She graduated from the Verdigre High School and then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She worked in the Livestock Exchange Building in Sioux City, Iowa as a Stenographer until the time of her marriage on September 2, 1939 to Orin Contryman. She then worked in the accounting office with her husband until her retirement in 1985.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and was active in various circles throughout the years.
Survivors include her daughter, Norma Stine and her husband Robert; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Contryman; one granddaughter, Mary Beth Butler and her husband Skot; three grandsons, Paul Stine, Nick Contryman and wife Kristin, and Alex Contryman; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orin; her parents; son, Wesley; brother, V.G. Bauman; and sisters, Sylvia Feala and Wilma Henn.
