Obituary

Erma Marie Mueller, 84, of Grand Island, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Father Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday with a 7 pm rosary at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mueller was born on March 13, 1930 at Grand Island to Frank and Ida (Lipke) Springsguth. She grew up and received her education in Grand Island.
She was united in marriage to Raymond H. Mueller, Sr. on February 2, 1948 at St. Mary's Cathedral. The couple made their home in Grand Island where they raised their eight children. Along with raising her children, Erma worked at Dreisbach's Steak House for 19 years. She then worked at the Grand Island Veterans' Home for several years. Mr. Mueller preceded her in death on January 4, 1996.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral where she was active in the Altar Society. Throughout her life faith and family were very important to Erma. She lived her life as a true servant of the Lord and always put others needs before her own. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, never missing an opportunity to send cards for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.
Erma enjoyed walking, cooking, caring for her flowers and traveling, especially to North Carolina where she could spend time with her family at the beach.
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara (Fred) Cripps of Greensboro, NC, Cathy (Rick) Nickerson of Julian, NC, Margaret (Doug) Ferguson of Grand Island and Vicky (Mark) Webb of Lemon Grove, CA; four sons, Raymond (Lois) Mueller, Jr. of Blair, NE, Michael (Janet) Mueller of Grand Island, Sam (Suzy) Mueller of McCook, NE and Matt (Michelle) Mueller of Winnabow, NC; adopted daughter, Karen Scarborough of Grand Island; 16 grandchildren and 2 grandchildren on the way; 24 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Frank Springsguth, Jr.
