Esther L. Coon, 91, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Wedgewood Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm Monday, August 26th at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11 am Tuesday at Westlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Coon was born on April 13, 1922 at Lincoln, Nebraska to Owen and Effie (Sanderson) Tupper. She grew up and received her education in Lincoln. Following high school she worked for Globe Laundry.
Esther was united to Orville M. Coon on May 19, 1946 at Lincoln. The couple made their home in Lincoln, Washington, Texas, Kansas and Sioux City, IA. In 1968 they moved to Grand Island. Mr. Coon preceded her in death in 1983.
Esther loved to garden and cook. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Rhonda Coon and their children, Dustin and Nathan Coon, all of Grand Island; a great granddaughter, Latya Coon; and three additional granddaughters from Minnesota.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, James Coon, and her brother, LeRoy Tupper.
