Obituary

Ethel M. Vickers, 76, of St. Paul, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at her home.
Memorial service will be at 11 AM Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Roger Feola will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation; Mrs. Vickers was cremated according to her wishes.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
Ethel was born on September 3, 1938 at Alda, Nebraska to George R. and Jessie (Bush) Anderson. She grew up in Alda and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1956.
She was united in marriage to Francis "John" Vickers, Jr. on January 5, 1958 at Trinity United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in various places while John served in the United States Air Force. Eventually the couple settled in Grand Island, arriving on June 3, 1980. Ethel worked in the circulation department of the Grand Island Independent for 29 years. In 2010, John and Ethel moved to St. Paul. Mr. Vickers preceded her in death on December 9, 2012.
She was a past member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Foursquare Gospel Church. She enjoyed arts and crafts, painting, cooking, bowling and playing cards. She was also an avid Husker fan, and always enjoyed her Diet Coke. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Throughout her life, faith and family were always very important to Ethel.
Survivors of the immediate family include two sons, John F. and Steven R. Vickers, both of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin (Vickers) and Craig Harmon of Dannebrog; grandchildren, Steven T. Vickers and his fiancé Stacey Ackerman, Joshua R. Vickers, Adam Harmon, Heather Harmon and Shelby Harmon; and two great grandchildren, Aiden Vickers and Serenity Vickers.
She is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Twila and Walter Pohlman of Lincoln.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Larry Anderson.
