Evaline L. Davis, 102, of Grand Island, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Brookfield Park Nursing Home in St. Paul with family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Saturday March 3, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with The Reverend Martin Egging officiating. Visitation will be from  4-6 pm, Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a Vigil Rosary beginning at 6 pm.

Evaline was born April 3, 1915 to John and Adelia (Rayles) McCarty at Merna, NE. She attended Merna High School and graduated with the class of 1934. She taught school for a short period of time before marriage in Dale Valley near Merna.

She married T. LeRoy Davis on October 17, 1936 at Burwell, NE. Together they made their home in Broken Bow, later moving to Cairo and finally made their home in Grand Island. She worked at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant working with the ammunition. She also worked at several different ladies dress shops before owning and operating her own specialty dress shop with her daughter, Renee, named Rona Lee's in Grand Island for 21 years.

She was an avid dancer, loved traveling, gambling and especially entertaining and spending time with her family. She was also able to live at home until she was 99.

She was a member of the Liederkranz, Eagles, past member of the Chamber of Commerce, her favorite dining establishment, the Saddle Club a member of the Courtqueen of Peace #2227 Catholic Daughters and a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son and his wife, Robert and Adrianna Davis of Grand Island; her daughter and her husband, Renee and Craig Widga of Grand Island; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Janell and Hilario Alcorta of Grand Island, Clifton and Colleen Davis of West Bend, WI; Alaina Miller of Grand Island and Cedric and Jamie Davis of Ralston, NE; and 11 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter; her brother, Arthur and Margie McCarty of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend for over 50 years, Blanche Janulewicz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T. LeRoy in 1994; her parents; brothers and sisters, Joseph, Juanita, Monica, Frances, Ella, John, and Raymond; 3 brother in laws, and 2 sister in laws.
