Evelyn Elizabeth Connors, 91, of Grand Island, formerly of Greeley, died March 12, 2012 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.
Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:30 am Friday, March 16, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley with the Reverend Sid Bruggeman officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Greeley. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Greeley with Catholic Daughters Rosary at 4 pm and a 7 pm Vigil Service. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home of Grand Island is serving the family.
She was born on October 21, 1920 on the family farm near White Lake, South Dakota to Maurice John and Emma Mary (Seward) Wallace. She grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation of South Dakota, attending elementary school at Wanamaker, South Dakota. She attended Wanblee High School through the 11th grade and then graduated from O'Neill Saint Mary's School in O'Neill, Nebraska in 1938.
She was united in marriage to Harold E. Connors on July 17, 1941 at O'Neill, Nebraska. To this union, four children were born. They lived in several states throughout the country while her husband was in the army and the FBI. They settled in Greeley in 1953 where her husband became Greeley County Attorney. Evelyn worked as a legal secretary for the Greeley County Attorney's office for many years. She retired from this position in 2002.
Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed painting, embroidery, cooking, reading and was an avid Husker football fan.
Evelyn was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and Altar Society. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Daughters and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Susan Connors of Westminster, Colorado, Mike and Joyce Connors of Dillon, Montana, Jim and Joy Connors of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Pat and Tim Krupicka of Grand Island.
Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, Dan Connors, Megan (Connors) Eastment and her husband Chris, John Connors and his wife Laura, Josh Connors, Kevin Connors, Katie Connors, Kellie Connors, Ben Krupicka, and Emily Krupicka; three great-grandchildren, Everson Connors, Corrick Connors, and Amelia Eastment. Other survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Stephen and Loretta Wallace and Dr. Robert and Jeri Wallace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alma Kersenbrock.
