Evelyn M. Rech, age 93, of Grand Island, passed away February 27, 2022 at the Greeley Care Home.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10:30am with a Rosary prior at 9:00am with all services at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Marty Egging officiating.  A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the Greeley Care Home, 201 E. Evelyn was the 8th child (of 10) of John Steven Zuroske and Adeliada Podraza Zuroske. She was the valedictorian of her high school class in Fullerton, Nebraska. She married Richard Thomas Rech (1927-1996) also from Fullerton in 1946. They lived on a farm in Nance County until 1965 when they moved to Grand Island. Evelyn experienced a variety of jobs in her life, but felt her most fulfilling was being a mother. She was an accomplished cook and baker. She was well known for her cinnamon rolls, kolache and pies.  She could grow anything (both inside and out) and canned tomatoes and pickles from her garden. She sewed, knitted, crocheted and embroidered. She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and created fabulous meals for family gatherings. She spent many hours in her backyard enjoying her flowers, wind chimes, bird houses, bird visitors and brewskis. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and was known as the hat lady there as she had a collection of hats and always sported one at mass.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rech Sr.; son, Ronald Rech; parents and siblings, Edward  Zuroske, Louis Zuroske, Elizabeth Dulik, Veronica (Vera) Bender, Clifford Zuroske, Regina Zuroske, Lucile Edmonds and Katherine Merrick.

She is survived by her brother, John Zuroske of Albion; her children, Richard Rech Jr. (Anne) of Greeley, Robert  Rech (Pat) of Tucson, AZ, Roger Rech (Janet) of Sierra Vista, AZ, Rodney Rech (Karina) of Lexington and Rebecca Cutler (David) of Bellingham, WA; daughter-in-law, Terri Rech of Kearney; grandchildren, Christine Wisnieski  (Matt) of Lincoln, Regina Baker of Greeley, Rosalie Rech of Lincoln, Richard "Ricky" Rech III (Abby Rech) of Lincoln, Addie Cutler of Fort Collins, CO, Rosamary Rech of Lexington; great grandchildren, Annie Fecci of Omaha, Noah Baker, Connor  Baker, Jenna Baker, Mason Wisnieski , Justin Wisnieski , Brandon Wisnieski , Allison Rech and Jaxson Rech.  Evelyn's family would like to thank all of the staff at the Greeley Care Home for their tender, loving care of Grandma Evelyn, their Polish pistol.
