Obituary

Fayona "Faye" J. Watts, 92, of Aurora, formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora, Nebraska.

Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Destiny Church in Grand Island.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Destiny Church. The Reverend Tim Rust will officiate the service.

Memorials are kindly suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

The family requests casual dress for the funeral.

Faye was born on November 23, 1932, in Hildreth, Nebraska to Ubbe and Nellie (Henderson) Schmidt. She was blessed to have been welcomed to the world alongside her two older brothers, Harold and Ruben, and sister, Bonnie who all loved and adored her from the day she arrived. At the age of 8, Faye and her parents moved from Hildreth to Shelton, Nebraska, where her father worked as a barber. Faye began her education in Shelton, Nebraska until she was 9 years old. She and her parents then moved back to McCook, Nebraska, where Faye continued schooling until 9th grade.

At the age of 16 years, Faye met Steve Newman. The two were soon united in marriage and moved to Pocatello, ID. To this union, a son, Michael Steven Newman was born.

After 4 years of marriage, Faye and Steve divorced. Faye and son Mike returned to McCook, where they lived with Faye's mother and stepfather, Al Pashkevch.

Faye worked at the McCook Hospital in the laundry room during this time. Faye later married Lloyd Rawson and moved to Atlanta, Nebraska to Lloyd's farm. They were blessed with 4 children, Douglas, Teresa, Roger, and Lori. After many years, Faye and Lloyd divorced.

After several years, Faye then met Glenn Watts and they later married in 1986. Faye and Glenn enjoyed traveling and took many trips. They both loved to dance and enjoyed going to many different places. Faye loved to play Bingo and traveled to several different small towns to do so. Faye was an amazing cook, her specialty was making pies, as no one could compare.

Faye is survived by her sons, Mike (Virginia) Newman of Grand Island, and Doug (Kim) Rawson of Oxford; daughters, Teresa (special friend Robert) Krejci and Lori Ducsay both of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Reggie (Mel) Newman of Omaha, Randy (Megan) Newman of Omaha, Cassandra Newman of Tacoma, WA, Wayne (Michelle) of Oxford, Adam (Jessica) of Lincoln, Jeremy (Cami) of Hickman, Amanda (Roberto) Rawson of Lincoln, Dale (Cassie) Krejci of Holdrege, Julie Melton of Holdrege; step-grandsons, Eldon (Dee) Grantzinger of Kearney, Gary (Lori) Grantzinger of Grand Island; 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, a son Roger Rawson, son-in-law Delbert Krejci, brothers Harold and Ruben Schmidt, and sister Bonnie Knight, sisters-in-law Dorthy and Ruth Schmidt.
