Obituary

George R. Gundelfinger, Sr., 76, of Grand Island died Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his home.
According to George's wishes he was cremated and there will be no services. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Mr. Gundelfinger was born on October 5, 1938 in Hastings, Nebraska to Martin Luther Gundelfinger, Sr. and Myrtle (Brew) Gundelfinger. He grew up and received his education in Hastings.
He entered the United States Navy on July 6, 1956. He was honorably discharged on July 13, 1962.
Following his discharge George returned to Hastings. In 1964 he went to work for New Holland in Grand Island. George moved to Grand Island in the 1980s and continued to work at New Holland until retiring in 1998. In retirement George loved to work on classic cars, especially the 1971 Mustang and 1972 Ranchero he built with his son, George, Jr.
George was a member of the Eagles Club in Hastings.
Mr. Gundelfinger is survived by a daughter, Shari L. Sykes and her husband Dave of Portia, AR; and two sons, George Gundelfinger, Jr. and his wife Denise of Grand Island, and Geoff Gundelfinger and his wife Kim of Ft. Collins, CO; five grandchildren; and a sister, Faye Torske of Blue Hill, Ne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Martin and Glenn Gundelfinger; and a sister, Dorothy Burkhardt.

According to George's wishes he was cremated and there will be no services. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
