Grace Clark, 95, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Good Samaritan in Wood River.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel located at 7th & Elm St. in Grand Island. Burial will be at 4:00 pm in Carroll, Nebraska at Elmwood Cemetery.
Grace was born November 6, 1916, on a farm in Ainsworth, NE to Charles Leonard Robins and Ellen Florence (Halleen). In 1920, the family moved to a farm near Sholes, NE. Grace graduated from Sholes High School. Her father died in 1935. In 1936, she attended and graduated from Wayne State Teachers College and taught in country schools.
She married Norman Edwin Clark on December 24, 1938 at Elk Point, SD. They moved to Carroll, NE where she taught elementary school and their daughter was born. The family moved to Grand Island in 1951. In 1965, she began teaching in Phillips and Aurora until her retirement in 1981. During her teaching career she earned her B.S. from Kearney State Teachers College. Her mother, Ellen died in 1980 and her husband, Norman in 1981.
Grace was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, founding member of the Garden Study Club, Quilt Guild, Prairie Pioneer Quilters, bridge clubs, a 50+ year member of the Eastern Star, and Retired Teachers Association. She was happiest working in her garden. She entered flower arrangements in the Fair and helped decorate the Stuhr Museum at Christmas. She made many beautiful quilts for relatives and friends, and worked as a seamstress for a time. After retirement, Grace made many enjoyable trips to California yearly to spend Christmas with family. Grace was an animal lover like her father and always had a cat.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela (John) Reinking of Oak Park, CA; and three grandchildren, Anne Robins Reinking, John Clark Reinking, and Daniel Carlson Reinking all of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ellen; husband, Norman; brothers, Everett and Raymond.
