IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helmut Gerber
May 17, 1950 - September 25, 2026
“In liebevoller Erinnerung”
Forever remembered. Forever loved.
A Life Remembered
Helmut Gerber was born in Germany on May 17, 1950. As a young boy, he came to Nebraska with his family, who made their home in the St. Paul area. It was there that Helmut grew up, built friendships, and became part of the community that shaped his early years.
He attended St. Paul High School and graduated with the Class of 1969. From a childhood that began in Germany to a life firmly rooted in Nebraska, Helmut carried with him a story of family, perseverance, and making a home in a new country. In 1971, he completed the naturalization process in Nebraska and became a United States citizen.
Helmut spent an important part of his working career at Appleton Electric in Columbus, Nebraska. His time at Appleton was a meaningful chapter of his working life and an important part of the life he built in central Nebraska.
Away from work, Helmut had a lifelong love for cars, especially Corvettes. He appreciated the design, power, and personality of a great automobile. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, and his three dogs were treasured companions and part of his everyday life.
Retirement brought Helmut back to the familiar St. Paul and Elba area. He enjoyed being near his sister Trudy and brother-in-law Larry, spending time at the lake, enjoying his surroundings, his cars, his dogs, and the freedom to simply enjoy life. More than anything, his greatest legacy remains the family and memories he leaves behind.
