Irvin D. Skrdlant, 87, of Grand Island died June 16, 2012 at Golden Living Center-Lakeview. Memorial service will be 10:30, Friday, June 22, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Doniphan with the Rev. Kelly Karges officiating. Inurnment will be in the Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. Irvin was born February 3, 1925 in Bladen, NE to Joseph and Stella (Koertner) Skrdlant. He grew up in Bladen and attended school there. On June 2, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Gene Duval in Bladen. After which the couple lived and farmed in rural Webster County and in Hansen, NE until residing west of Doniphan. They retired in 1980 in Doniphan until 2004. He also worked for the Department of Roads as an Emergency assistant for 15 years. Irvin also operated large land-moving equipment.
Irvin was a member of the United Methodist Church of Doniphan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and listening to polka music.
He is survived by sons, Raymond and Mary Jo Skrdlant of Doniphan, Russell and Teresa of Hastings, Duane and Fiancé Sue of Doniphan; daughter, Lois and Kenneth Nohavec of Crete; grandchildren, Kristi Nohavec, Cindy and Darin Kotas, Michael and Amanda Nohavec, Tammy and Brian Eaton, Sara and Davin Peterson, Marji Ann Skrdlant, Angela Skrdlant, Lindsey Skrdlant, Lucas Skrdlant, Jacy Skrdlant, and Keith Skrdlant; and 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Harold and Marcia Skrdlant of Gibbon, and Edward and Janice Skrdlant of Bladen.
Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; son, Marvin; granddaughter, Rebecca Skrdlant, 2 brothers, Norman Skrdlant and Glen Skrdlant; 4 sisters, Florence Good, Clara Skrdlant, Alice Gross, and Esther Bartley.
