Jack B. Voss, age 93, of Grand Island, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Grand Island Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 16, 2022 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Pavuk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. The live streamed service can be viewed on the church's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/stpaulsgi/ . Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
Jack was born on April 20, 1929 in Grand Island to Barney and Wilhelmina (Muller) Voss. He attended District 74 Grade School and then Grand Island Senior High. Jack was united in marriage to Wilma Witt on June 18, 1950 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Grand Island. In 1952 Jack built the Lazy V Motel east of Grand Island. In 1963 they sold the motel and opened the Grand Island Western Shop where he worked until retirement in 1981. He developed the Voss Subdivision in Capital Heights and the Horse Country Club Subdivision. Jack and Wilma enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family and friends at their cabin at Sherman Reservoir. For 22 years they spent the winter months together in Bradenton, FL.
He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. He was also actively involved in many other groups over the years. Such as, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Nebraska Appaloosa Horse Club and the Saddle Club. In 1958, he founded the Hall County Sheriff's Posse. He enjoyed hunting geese, deer and elk and fishing. He traveled all over the country judging horse shows.
He is survived by daughter, Carolyn Mills of Grand Island; son, David Voss of Grand Island; grandchildren, Chad (Jessica) Mills of Boelus, Andrea (Kevin) Brunk of Grand Island, and Sam (Kaylene) Mills of Grand Island; great grandchildren, Matison, Kayleigh, Tristan, Braeden, Isabelle, Adaline, Kennedy, Brexten and Hudson; sister, Gloria (Peter) Kurbanick of Wichita, KS; brother in-law, Duane Life of Newton, KS and several nieces and nephews.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents; wife, Wilma; sisters, Betty Life and Alice Emery and son in-law, Lee Mills. Condolences can be left at www.livson.com.
