James Michael Cochnar, 61, of Grand Island passed away July 15, 2018.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Sid Bruggeman officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 AM with a Rosary at 9 AM at the funeral home.

He was born on June 28, 1957 in Grand Island, NE to James F. and Anna Mae (Carkoski) Cochnar. He grew up in Grand Island, NE and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1975. He graduated from Central Community College in Hastings, NE in 1977.

James earned an associate's degree in Hotel/Motel/Restaurant Management. The majority of his work life was spent working for Bosselman Enterprises.He was a member of the Catholic Faith. He loved being with his family. He was a kind and generous person.

His interests included a love for trains, airplanes and Star Trek. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing what he read with others. Although he did not have pets of his own, he loved family members' pets as if they were his own.

He is survived by his brothers, John (Angela) Cochnar, Joe (Cathy) Cochnar, Jerome Cochnar; sisters, Kathy Cochnar, Connie Cochnar, Annie (Alan) Kahle, Cindy (John) Taylor; aunt and uncle, Robert and Dorothy Ann Pape; four nieces; six nephews; four great-nieces; six great-nephews; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and an aunt and uncle.
