James Patrick O'Nele III, 63, of Black Canyon City, AZ, was delivered into the hands of God on Oct 24,2013 after a long battle with cancer.

James was born in Grand Island, NE on Sept 8, 1950 to Lloyd E O'Nele & Mae (Hein) O'Nele, joining his brother Micheal.

In 1969 he married his best friend and high school sweetheart Susan Hecht and they lived in love for the next 45 years.  James graduated from Grand Island Senior High and went on to SECC Milford.  After graduating from the building construction department he stayed on as an instructor.  In 1972 he left teaching to go back to the field of home construction in Grand Island, NE.   In 1975 he moved the "Falldorf House", his Great Grandfather's Ancestral home, from town to the site of the original homestead.  With much love he restored the home to it's original condition.  He and Susan lived there until 1986 when they moved to Phoenix.  They planned to retire to the "Falldorf House" in NE which they always considered home. James was a phenomenal carpenter & home builder who did beautiful hand carving. To all who knew him he was a good, kind, gentle, loving man who was much loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Susan of Black Canyon City, AZ, their sons and wives James P. O'Nele IV and Angelina of Grand Island, NE, & Andrew G. O'Nele and Robin of Anthem, AZ, his brother Micheal and wife Terry O'Nele of Asheville NC, his much loved Mom-in-Law Louise Hecht (who always liked him best), and by his wonderful Grandchildren Talon, Katelyn, & Liam O'Nele of Anthem, AZ,  3 week old Kayleigh O'Nele of Grand Island, NE and 3 Bonus Grandkids Marcus, Isaac, & Julia Gonifas of Grand Island, NE.  James especially loved teasing them and spinning tall tales to see who believed his stories. He was blessed to have been able to meet Kayleigh who flew down to AZ from NE when she was only 4 days old to see her Grandpa "O".

The family asks that memorials be sent to Hospice of the Valley Sherman Home. 5801 E Mayo Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85054-4503.   480-585-0909.
