James R. Seachord, 88, of Aurora, NE died August 27, 2016 at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Graveside service will be 10 AM September 10, 2016 at the Morrowville, KS Cemetery.
James was born on September 27, 1927 in Gladstone, NE to Attig and Lucy (Woods) Seachord. He grew up in Thayer and Jefferson Counties in Nebraska. In 1945, he graduated from Steele City High School.
He was united in marriage to Clariece Bertram on August 22, 1949, at Hays, KS. After which the couple lived in various places where he taught school. He taught a variety of subjects from biology, general science, shop, and driver's education. James entered the United States Navy in 1945 serving during World War II and was honorably discharged.
James was a member of the V.F.W. in Washington, KS and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, drafting, singing in the choir at church, and went on various hunting trips.
Survivors include: sons: Nick Seachord of Aurora, NE, Alan (Dianna) Seachord of Everett, WA; grandchildren: Jason McGhghy, Michelle Stenka, Stephanie Seachord, Ashley Seachord; great grandchildren: Avery, Faith, Paul McGhghy; sister: Mary (Larry) Walck of Kenesaw, NE; brother: Stephen (Ike) Seachord of Prosser, NE; sisters-in-law: Doris Kohlman of Washington, KS, and Cecelia Seachord of Blue Springs, NE.
James was preceded in death by: parents; wife: Clariece; daughter and son-in-law: Sheri (Larry) McGhghy; and brothers: Harold and Bill Seachord.
