Janet C. Lockhart, 74, of Lincoln, NE, formerly of Grand Island, passed away on February 7, 2016, at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln from complications due to Alzheimer's.

Janet was a daughter, sister, aunt, and mother. She was born on October 30, 1941 in Grand Island to George and Mildred (Giesenhagan) Claussen. She attended school in Grand Island and graduated in 1959 from Grand Island Senior High. After graduation she attended Nebraska Wesleyan University.
In past years Janet enjoyed reading as well as creating many pieces of art using watercolor, charcoal or pencil. Janet also enjoyed working with children and was active with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization.

Survivors include; son, Marlin "Mike" Lockhart of Lincoln, son, Rick (Vicki) Lockhart of Lincoln; step-grandson, Victor (Jamie) Dixon; brother, John (Cheryl) Claussen of Phillips, NE; nieces and nephews, Chris, Colleen, Cindy, John, Emalee, Kurt, Kraig, Kimberly, Kevin and Hali.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jerry Claussen, and nephew, Tim Lockhart.

A special thanks to Hospice Community Care, the entire staff at Lancaster Manor, and Dialysis Center of Lincoln.

Private funeral service will be held for the family. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer Association.
