Janie J. Worrell, 63, of Grand Island died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am Thursday, August 4, at Full Circle Venue, 1010 Diers Ave., in Grand Island. There will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorials are suggested to the Central Nebraska Humane Society.
Mrs. Worrell was born on May 21, 1948 in Ord, Nebraska to DeLysle and Mavis (Schudel) Jeffres. She grew up in Scotia and graduated from North Loup-Scotia High School in 1966.
She was united in marriage to Gary Worrell on March 23, 1968 in Scotia. The couple made their home in Grand Island where she worked for Brandeis, Younkers and Principal Financial. She retired from Principal in 2010.
Janie was a loving and caring person who always enjoyed helping others. One of her favorite past times was "tanking" down the North Loup River. She also enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening, caring for her dogs and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
She is survived by her husband Gary of Grand Island, a son and daughter-in-law Cory and Amy Worrell of Albion, NE, a daughter Kristi Worrell of Lincoln, two grandsons; Cooper and Broderick Worrell of Albion, her mother Mavis Jeffres of Grand Island, four sisters; Sheila Loescher of Grand Island, Vicki Buckman of Grand Island, Kim Aldrich of Grand Island and Lori Lewis of Grand Island, and a brother Jim Jeffres of Ogallala.
Janie will also be greatly missed by a special group of friends, the Tankers.
She was preceded in death by her father and an infant sister Linda Jeffres.
