Jerry C. Bobek Jr., 79, of Arkansas City, finished his journey on earth July 16, 2016, at CHI Health St. Francis, in Grand Island, Neb.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place with no services.
Jerry was born Aug. 9, 1936, in Caldwell, to Jerry C. Bobek Sr. and Herberta H. (Viele) Bobek. Jerry attended public schools in Caldwell, graduating in 1955. He then attended Arkansas City Junior College.
In 1956 he joined the U.S. Navy for a four-year tour of duty. He then returned to Caldwell and entered into raising livestock and farming with his dad. In 1962, General Electric Jet Engine Over Haul at Arkansas City hired him. He worked night shift there and farmed by day.
He married Janice (Neal) McCord on July 14, 1984.
Jerry retired from farming in 1990 and retired from GE in February 1999. Jerry and his wife, Janice, enjoyed traveling and camping since retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson Steve McCord.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; adopted daughter, Janet Holler; adopted son, Michael Bobek; stepdaughters, Pam Bryant, and husband Ken, and Wanee Hughes and husband Mike; sisters, Mary Houck, and husband Bob, and Elizabeth Williams; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
