Obituary

John Milton Bowling, 71, of Grand Island, passed away, August 20, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village in Hastings, NE.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
John was born on August 29, 1944 at Independence, MO. He spent most of his young life in Escondido, California and graduated high school from South Calloway High School in Jefferson City, MO. He was united in marriage to Carol Weiss on March 13, 1965 in Kansas City, KS. They lived in Norfolk, VA, Harrow-On-The-Hill, England and Franklin, IN before making their home in Grand Island.
He served in the United States Navy from May 31, 1962 to Feb 1, 1972 and served during the Vietnam War. His last deployment was to the South Pole where he spent 1 year. After the military John was a Computer Tech for GE for 26 years, retiring in 2003.
John liked to bowl, loved the outdoors, loved to play pitch and board games with family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Pam Buller and her husband Terry of Grand Island, son, John V. Bowling and wife Kelly of Omaha and daughter Debbie Kuhn and husband Scott of Wheaton, IL; and 5 grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Katherine.
