Obituary

Joyce (Moreland) Stewart, 75, of Grand Island, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Jack Sample will officiate. Cremation services were provided by Westlawn Memorial Park Crematory.
Joyce was born on July 2, 1935 near Falmouth, KY, the youngest of seven children born to John and Daisy Moreland. She had four older sisters (Mildred, Doris, Jane and Judy) and two older brothers (Melvin and Raymond). She had two daughters (Rhonda and Renee) from and early marriage and a son (Eric) from a later marriage.
She spent most of her childhood and early adulthood in Kentucky and Ohio. In 1963 she moved to Texas where she spent the next 44 years, most of it in the Houston area.
Before her health deteriorated she enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling. She had several pet poodles over the years. The last, Cody, she had for 9 years and loved dearly.
She was united in marriage to Robert Stewart on May 9, 1982. Robert has two daughters (Nancy and Teri) who consider her their second mom. She was also Grandma to Nancy's two sons (Tanner and Ryan) and Teri's son (Trevor) and daughter (Tarn).
Robert and Joyce retired and moved from Houston to the Lake Somerville area of Texas in 1995 where they lived until relocation to Grand Island in December of 2007.
She was preceded in death by both brothers, her sisters Mildred and Doris, and by her daughter Rhonda who died two weeks prior to her.
She is survived by her husband Robert, her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Roger and their children (Kirsten, Brendan, Carissa and Kaila); her son and daughter-in-law, Eric and De Anna and their children (Zachary and Brandon); her step daughter Nancy and her husband Tom and their children (Tanner and Ryan); her step daughter Teri and her husband Tim and their children (Trevor and Tarn); and numerous nieces and nephews.
