Julia M. Wood, 80, of Grand Island, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Celebration of Life Service will be held September 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., at Polk Community Hall in Polk, Nebraska. Justin Smith will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the family for designation at a later date.
Inurnment will be held in the Polk Cemetery in Polk, Nebraska.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Julia was born June 12,1944 to Charles and Hazel (Gordon) Tippin in Grand Island, Nebraska. She grew up in Grand Island, attended and graduated high school from Grand Island Senior High. She worked at JCPenney's, Golden Pointe and Burger King.
Julia was united in marriage to Gary Wood on June 16, 1963 in Grand Island, Nebraska. To this union, three children were born; Todd, Kari and Keli. The couple lived in Grand Island. Gary and Julia were married for 61 loving years.
Julia worked for many years at Skagway and retired from there. She then went to work as a lunch lady at the school, she enjoyed her job at the school and the kids respected and loved her.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband. Her family meant the most to her. She loved crocheting Afghans and coloring pictures.
Julia is survived by her husband, Gary of Polk, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Melissa Wood of Lawrence, KS; daughters & son-in-law, Kari & Mike Brown and Keli Peterson all of Cairo, NE; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Peery of Walton, NE.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, SaVanna Wood; and two brothers, Art Tippin and Chuck Tippin.
