Karen A. Schwieger (Engel), was called home to our lord on Friday, December 29, 2023.

Born March 22nd, 1944 to Mildred and Elmer Engel, in Grand Island, Nebraska where she graduated from Grand Island High School in 1962.

Karen married Jim O. Schwieger in 1962 and raised two children. Dale (Karen) Schwieger and Pam (Chip) Maynard. Karen had 6 grandchildren James (Melissa)Schwieger and Alex Schwieger, Lexi Jo Koster, Zach (Kelsey) Utemark, Patricia-Ann Palmarez, and James Maynard, including five great-grandchildren.

Also left to cherish Karen's memory are her brothers Vernon Engel, Jerry Engel, and sister Ramona Weber.  She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Mildred Engel.

Jim and Karen moved to Homer, Nebraska in 1976, where Karen worked at Williams and Company of Sioux City, Iowa until retirement.  Karen and Jim decided to enjoy their retirement in the warmer southern weather and moved to Whitney, Texas in 2007. After Jim passed in 2018, Karen moved to Osage City, Kansas where she lived with the family until her death.

Karen enjoyed volunteering at the Osage City Library and Pomona State Park. She also spent enjoyable hours with friends quilting at the Osage County Senior Center.

A Celebration of Life service for Jim and Karen Schwieger will be held at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island, Nebraska April 13, 2024, at 9:30 am, with graveside services following and lunch provided back at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
