Obituary

Katherine "Kathy" S. Sensenbach, 84, of Grand Island, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at home with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Wednesday, August 20th at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Reverend Gary Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice, Messiah Lutheran Youth Mission Trip or the Central Nebraska Humane Society.
Mrs. Sensenbach was born on April 4, 1930 at Hickory, North Carolina to Walter and Rosa Mae (Hallman) Parlier. She grew up and received her education in Hickory. Following high school she attended Lenoir Rhyne College. In August of 1953 she met her future husband, Paul Sensenbach, Sr., while visiting a peanut patch in North Carolina.
Paul and Kathy were united in marriage on October 18, 1953 at Hickory, NC. The couple made their home in Oakland, New Jersey where she worked for a short time in the insurance industry before the couple started their family. They moved to Grand Island in 1977 where she worked in the cafeteria of the Lutheran Hospital. Kathy retired from St. Francis Medical Center in 2006. Mr. Sensenbach preceded her in death in September of 2007.
Kathy was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved gardening, crocheting, knitting, quilting, singing and was an avid baseball fan. She also was very particular with her lawn, and loved to mow. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Kathy is survived by three daughters, Janie Zweifel, Nancy Sensenbach and Carolyn S. Urbom, all of Grand Island; a son, P.R. Lee Sensenbach, Jr. of Grand Island; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; four brothers, Samuel, Paul, Wade and Tommy Parlier; and three sisters, Dorothy Greene, Joan Kern and Janie Rose Starnes.
