Kenneth "Kenny" King, 64, of Grand Island died Friday, May 15, 2015, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island.
Kenny was born July 28, 1950 in Grand Island to Fred and Dorothy (Marlow) King. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1968. After which he attended Central Community College and Lincoln School of Commerce.
In 1971, he was united in marriage to Doreen Hemmingsen in Grand Island. They had two children, Joshua and Angela. Kenny married Carol Koch in 1988, in Grand Island, and they enjoyed the last 26 wonderful years together. During this time Kenny owned and operated several businesses. The last one was Preferred Mail Services.
He was a member of the Platt Duetsche, First Response Team, Lincoln Postal council, and past president of the Jaycees. He enjoyed watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas City Chiefs, and NASCAR. Kenny loved working outside and reading everything he could get his hands on, no matter the subject.
Kenny is survived by his wife: Carol King of Grand Island; children: Joshua (Susan) King of Omaha, NE, Angela (Shad) Rowley of Aurora, IL; step children: Lee (Sandy) Koch of Lincoln, NE, Tracy Koch of Lincoln, NE, Mitch (Kimberly) Borger of KS; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings: Ron King of Grand Island; special friends: Dorothy Judge, Les (Pat) Buschow, Ted Wagner, Norm Kocmick, Rich Curry, Dave Runge, Tom Dexter, Wayne Menke, and Ronnie Pichler.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Dorothy King; sister: Nancy Underwood; step father: Walter "Bud" Johnson; nephew: Allen Underwood; granddaughter: Chantel Koch; special friends: Dennis Judge, Frank Judge, Terry Graves, and Don Herman.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 11 am – 1 pm Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Platt Duetsche. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Make A Wish Foundation.
