Laurence A. Stephenson Jr. 59, of Grand Island, died Friday, November 5, 2010 at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Memorial services will be on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Wenig will officiate.
Mr. Stephenson's body was cremated, and there will be no visitation.
Mr. Stephenson was born on March 3, 1951 in Downey, California to Laurence Alfred and Vevea Viola (Miller) Stephenson Sr.
Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and daughters-in-laws, Jonathan (Alice) Stephenson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Joshua (Faith) Stephenson of Grand Island, and Timothy (Gennifer) Stephenson of Muskogee, Oklahoma; one daughter, Rebecca Stephenson and her husband John Stangel of Monroe, Louisiana; his mother, Vevea Stephenson of Pomona, California; two brothers, John Stephenson of Whittier, California, and James Stephenson of Pomona, California; and a half-brother William of Alaska.
Additional survivors include six grandchildren, Devereaux Stephenson, Gideon Stephenson, Diana Stephenson, Andrew Stangel, Rachel Stephenson, and Daniel Stephenson.
Mr. Stephenson received his education in Whittier California and graduated from high school in 1969. He attended Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas where he received his B.A. degree in Computer Science in 1973.
He spent the majority of his life in California and Wichita, Kansas. He moved to Grand Island in October 2009.
Mr. Stephenson enjoyed flying remote control aircraft, and attending Renaissance festivals. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
