Through the years he also worked with the Bureau of Reclamation in Denver, then back to Nebraska Department of Roads. His vast career led him to Diamond Engineering Company in 1954, retiring in 1993 as President of the company.
From 1944 until 1946, Lloyd served during WWII with the U.S. Naval Service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, past board member of Grand Island Saddle Club, Elks, and American Legion.

Lloyds' greatest joy in life was caring for his family, his loving wife of 63 years, his 5 children, all his grandchildren and of course, Husker football. His great sense of humor never left him even in his final days. The most admired and important thing he taught his children was work ethic, integrity, and above all, kindness in all life's journeys.
