Obituary

Lyle J. Petsch, 89, of Grand Island passed into heaven on Saturday, March 24,2012 at Wedgewood Care Center with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Chaplain Steve Shanno will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
According to Lyle's wishes everyone is invited to wear casual attire to the services.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Petsch was born on October 5, 1922 in Stratton, Nebraska to Fred William and Mabel (Parson) Petsch. He grew up in Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School. Following high school he farmed north of Stratton and 15 years later he moved to Grand Island where he worked for Roberts Dairy for 26 years.
He was united in marriage to Virginia Loree Hrouda on June 22, 1952 in Denver, Colorado.
Lyle was a member of the Saddle Club, the Elks and the Eagles Club. He was an avid Husker football fan and he also enjoyed dancing with his wife, working in his yard, crafts, and driving new cars for Enterprise and Cornhusker Toyota. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vivian and Dennis Spiehs of St. Libory and Pamela and Brad Roberts of Palmer; four grandchildren, Angie and her husband, Doug Boersen, Amy and her husband, Ted Bogosian, Sarah and her husband, Luke Splattstoesser and Samantha Ballard; five great grandchildren, Craig, Jacob, Amelia, Abby, and Landon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Leland Petsch, a son-in-law, Joe Ballard, and a grandson-in-law, Vinny Ramirez.
