Madonna F. Swartz, 81, of Grand Island died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Reverend Scott Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Swartz was born on November 28, 1930 in Schuyler, Nebraska to Edward and Eunice (Anderson) Kudrna. She grew up and received her education in Schuyler and York. While growing up she loved to roller skate and met her future husband, Louie, at the roller skating rink in York.
Madonna and Louie Swartz were united in marriage on September 4, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple made their home in York for a short time before moving to Grand Island where they raised their family. Mr. Swartz preceded her in death on August 18, 2001.
Her family and friends will remember Madonna as a kind and loving person. Her family meant everything to her, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors of the immediate family include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Koehler of Grand Island, Suzanne and Harry Lovell of Geneva and Lisa and Eddy Lovell of Geneva; two sons and daughters-in-law, Louie and Susan Swartz Jr. of Grand Island and Gary and Trish Swartz of Grand Island.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren.
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, a brother, a nephew and a great grandson.
