Marcella Burke, 93, of Lincoln, formerly of St. Libory, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln.
Rosary 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Josephs Church, Lincoln, NE. Msgr. Barr
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 am Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Father Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. There will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorials are suggested to Tabitha Journey House or Madonna Angel Dog.
Mrs. Burke was born on December 27, 1917 at Raeville, Nebraska to Ed and Anna J. (Seier) Dingwerth. She grew up and received her education in St. Libory.
Marcella was united in marriage to Bud F. Burke on March 4, 1946 in St. Libory. The couple made their home in St. Libory where she worked for the United States Post Office for 22 years. Mr. Burke preceded her in death in April of 1979.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society, Eagles Auxiliary, St. Mary's Quilters and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed playing the organ, growing flowers and quilting.
Survivors of the immediate family include a son, Dennis Burke and wife Jane of Golden Mo. two daughters, Judy Burke and Kathy Nealon and husband Dan, both of Lincoln.
She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Andy and Kelsey Nealon
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers.
