Obituary

Marguerite Louise Hansen, 99, formerly of Grand Island, quietly and gracefully passed away at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE, December 28, 2016. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Father Robert Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Marguerite was born December 15, 1917, in St. Paul, NE, to Frank and Louise (Wissbaum) Jordan.  She grew up in St. Paul, graduated from high school in 1936, and attended the business college in St. Paul.  She worked at the Howard County Court House until she received a civil service appointment at the Airbase in Grand Island, NE.  She served as secretary to the Commanding Officer during WW II.  In 1965, the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island re-opened and Marguerite served as secretary to the Division Manager for 10 years.

Marguerite married Henry H. Hansen of St. Paul, NE, on March 22, 1944. They made their home in St. Paul and later in Grand Island.  Marguerite enjoyed fishing and camping with her family, and baking, sewing, and plastic canvas needlepoint.

Survivors include two daughters: Mary Lou (Larry) Cotter of Aurora, CO, Betty A (Mike) Cook of Ogallala, NE; two grandsons: Adam Cook of Yucaipa, CA, Ben (Molly) Cook of Francestown, NH; two great-grandsons: Liam Henry Cook and Bryson Robert Cook of Francestown, NH; nephews and cousins.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brother: Bernard Jordan.
